Hirai hints at PSP2 touch controls

Sony Computer Entertainment chief suggests that the next PSP might have a touchpad, as rumored.
For much of 2010, unconfirmed reports of the PSP2 have bounced around the Web. In particular, rumors that the device would have a touch-sensitive pad on its back have been around as far back as August. Those rumors were seemingly confirmed when purported photos of a PSP2 dev kit surfaced last month.

Samsung Galaxy Tab - Review

The iPad started shipping in April, and since then it has basically had the tablet market to itself. Literally, in the six months after the iPad’s release, it didn’t have a single direct competitor. Dell launched the Streak shortly after the iPad, but the Streak was a 5” unit that was significantly smaller than the iPad. In the 7-11” tablet market, Apple has been the only real player.

NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 570: Filling In The Gaps

NVIDIA can be a very predictable company at times. It’s almost unheard of for them to release only a single product based on a high-end GPU, so when they released the excellent GeForce GTX 580 last month we knew it was only a matter of time until additional GTX 500 series cards would join their product lineup.

Mario Party 2 dances onto Virtual Console

Nintendo Store Update: N64 minigame compilation title hits nostalgic hub; WiiWare welcomes Frobot, Inkub; DSiWare adds Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp, three others.
Gamers might not have an Italian mustached plumber on their holiday party invitation list, but Mario doesn't care; he's partying this week regardless.
Leading the downloadable pack this week is Mario Party 2 (1,000 Wii points, or $10) on the Virtual Console. Originally released in 2000 on the Nintendo 64, the title stars Mario and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom gang. Up to four players can compete against each other and vie for shiny stars on multiple boards, ultimately hoping to become the party master.
Switching to WiiWare, today Nintendo added two new titles, the first of which is Frobot (1,000 Wii points, or $10). From Fugazo, the one-to-four player title has gamers "making love, not war." More specifically, Frobot sees players controlling a robot taking to the streets to save his five girlfriends.

World of Warcraft after the Cataclysm

Q&A: Game director Tom Chilton discusses Blizzard's reaction to the arrival of MMORPG's third expansion, suggests fans won't have to wait two more years for number four.

Last Tuesday, Blizzard Entertainment flipped the switch on Cataclysm, the third expansion to its phenomenally successful massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft. Like wildfire, the game spread to more than a dozen regions and set a new all-time PC sales record, selling more than 3.3 million units in 24 hours. Of course, with Blizzard already boasting more than 12 million active and engaged users, it'd have been more of a surprise had a record not been set.

Blizzard confirms next-gen MMOG called Titan

Following purportedly leaked release schedule, cofounder Frank Pearce says studio has begun talking about title as a recruitment tool.

Early this month, an austere document appeared online purporting to be Blizzard Entertainment's road map for the next five years. Dated April 2, 2010, the document listed quarterly release windows for all of the Irvine, California-based studio's projects, including Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm (Q4 2011), Diablo 3 (Q4 2011), and World of Warcraft's fourth expansion (Q2 2012). Also appearing in that chart was a mystery project, bearing the title Titan and a Q4 2013 release window

Big in Japan December 6-12: Monster Hunter Portable 3

Capcom's PSP action game retains top spot as Studio Ghibli-Level Five collaboration Ninokuni, Donkey Kong Country Returns spar for second.

Along with the flagging rhythm genre, slumping sales of Wii games and portable titles have been blamed for the US game industry's 2010 woes. However, the picture in Japan is considerably different. Media Create released its Japanese sales figures for the week of December 6-12, and games for the PSP, DS, and Wii claimed eight of the top 10 chart spots.

Knights Contract signed for Feb. 22

Namco Bandai's gruesome fantasy action adventure pegged for midwinter release on Xbox 360, PS3.

Namco Bandai earned a strong critical response in October with Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, a third-person action adventure in which a crafty female dominated a thuggish male in a far-future dystopia to ensure her safety. The publisher will be revisiting that formula next year with Knights Contract, announcing today that the gore-heavy action adventure will arrive for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation on February 22.

Google releases Cr48 Chrome laptop

Check out the specs and information for the new Cr48 laptop from Google. We also have some pictures for you.
We've had plenty of pre-knowledge on this, but surprisingly this is our first actual glimpse of Google's new unbranded "Cr-48," the very first Chrome OS laptop. Google will distribute the laptop through its Chrome OS Pilot Program, in a sort of public beta. You actually have to apply to join the program, and there are going to be a limited number of the laptops available -- retail Chrome OS models from Acer and Samsung will be available in the middle of 2011 for the masses. Google's doing a number of little promotions to give away the devices to interested users and businesses which will provide feedback, and it looks like there's no way to actually pay money for one right now. Now, for the specs:
